privacy policy
simply.compare is operated by RevUp Online Ltd, registered in England & Wales. we are the data controller for any personal data described below. you can reach us at hello@simply.compare.
the short version
if you compare deals on this site, we collect nothing personal - no name, no email, no postcode stored, no tracking cookie. the only time we hold your personal data is if you ask us to email you your results; we use that address for the one send, then delete it within 7 days.
1. what we collect (and what we don't)
compare path (broadband, mobile, energy, streaming, TV): no personal data whatsoever. we log anonymous, aggregated counts of which categories and deals were viewed - no IP address, no identity, no fingerprinting.
energy postcode: if you enter a postcode for accurate energy pricing, we use it to look up your region and then discard it immediately. it never touches our database.
guided picker answers: three anonymous questions (e.g. "how much data do you need?"). used only for that request; gone when it's done.
outbound clicks: when you click "go to deal", we log the category and deal ID - no identity, no IP stored as personal data.
shared comparison links: if you share your results, we store the filters and sort order (no personal data) for up to 180 days, then delete them.
results by email (the only personal data on the public site): if you choose to email yourself your results, we collect your email address, send the results, and delete the address within 7 days. we never add it to a marketing list or share it for advertising. the legal basis is your consent - you chose to request the email.
admin-staff accounts: we hold name, email, password hash, and 2FA data for staff who operate the admin panel, and an audit log of admin actions. legal basis: contract / legitimate interests.
2. cookies
we set only strictly-necessary cookies - a session cookie (for CSRF protection and, if you submit the results-email form, to process that form). we set no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. there is no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no third-party tracking.
because we use only strictly-necessary cookies, no cookie-consent banner is required under PECR. if we ever add a non-essential cookie, we will add a consent mechanism first.
3. who we share your data with
we share data only where necessary to operate the service:
- Postmark - to send results emails (your email address is passed to Postmark for that single send only).
- Anthropic - to power the guided picker (your anonymous answers are sent; no personal data is included; the postcode resolves to a region before any API call).
- Hosting / infrastructure providers - our servers and database.
- Affiliate networks - outbound clicks carry an anonymous tracking token; no personal data.
we do not sell data, share it for advertising, or pass it to data brokers.
4. international transfers
Postmark and Anthropic may process data outside the UK. where they do, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (UK adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses).
5. how long we keep data

6. your rights
under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or request portability. in practice, because the compare path holds no personal data tied to an identity, most rights requests have very little to act on - but we will respond to any request promptly.
to exercise any right, email us at hello@simply.compare. if you asked us to email you results and want that address deleted early, email us from the same address and we will remove it immediately.
if you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
7. no marketing
we do not send marketing emails. we do not sell your data. we do not profile you. there are no personalised ads on this site.
8. changes to this policy
if we make a material change to how we handle personal data, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. given how little data we hold, significant changes are unlikely.
